John is a Chartered Accountant and Financial Advisor and the founder of Watson Corporate Services and Watson and Sons Advisory. John has worked in the tax and business advisory space for over 30 years with a belief that real advice can change people’s live for the better.

John has also worked in the Not-For-Profit space for many years in his role as Auditor and serviced organisations such as Hospitals Contribution Fund of Australia, Camp Quality, Apex Foundation and many others.

John is an SMSF Specialist and a committed supporter of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds, believing that it is important for people to take control of their own investments and savings.

John’s interests include his family, grandchildren, football (soccer), a Border Collie named Stewart, hiking, horse racing and gardening.

Ming Tan

Senior Accountant

Ming began in public practice over 13 years ago after completing her degree with UTAS.  She is responsible for the preparation of year end accounts, including Self-Managed Superannuation Funds, BAS’s, tax planning and provision of general business and tax advice.

Ming is also knowledgeable on the use of cloud accounting systems (namely MYOB and Xero) and loves helping clients move to an electronic accounting system – freeing up time for them to spend on other things in life.

Ming is originally from Penang, Malaysia. Hailed from a long line of foodies, she is passionate in all things food, including cooking, recipe creation and she runs a food blog at

She is also a proud owner of two birds, being a sun conure and a pineapple green-cheek.

Stephen Stone

Senior Accountant

Stephen has over 7 years business services and advisory experience and enjoys helping SME clients achieve their life financial goals.  He has a specific interest in Self-Managed Superannuation.

Stephen enjoys travel photography, assisting the local Community Radio Station as Treasurer and part time presenter and has an interest in supporting local produce, sustainability and renewable energy.

Stephen recently made a tree change with his wife and young family from Sydney and is enjoying designing his own productive garden space.

Jessica Mao

Jessica holds a Bachelor of Business (majoring in accounting) and is a Certified Practicing Accountant with over 19 years’ experience in public practice and commercial accounting.  She has worked with John Watson’s team since 2004.  She specialises in accounting, taxation and superannuation funds.

She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Jessica loves travelling to new places, cooking and has recently taken an interest in gardening.

Jessica is married and has an adult daughter.

Jessica works out of the Norwest office.

Bimla Bashyal

Bimla holds Bachelor of Accounting from Charles Sturt University.

She is our most recent recruit, joining our team in July 2015. She assists us in the preparation of individual tax returns and Business Activity Statements (BASs).

Bimla enjoys playing sports such as playing tennis, table tennis and badminton. When she is not out and about, she loves spending time at home cooking and reading books.

Bimla is married to Roshan and has a baby boy.

Patrice Watson

Team Administrator/Superwoman

patrice-watsonI have been married to John Watson for 38 years.

We have 3 children and 7 grandchildren and a Border Collie dog.

When not working, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren (helps bring out your inner child and keeps me thinking young), cooking, sewing, knitting and travel.

Sarah Navin


sarah-navinSarah is John and Patrice’s eldest child. She is married to Ashley and mum to 2 wonderfully special children.

Balancing between work and family, hobbies and interests are not high on her priority list right now. However when she has a little breather, she is keen on functional nutrition learning and experimental cooking for her family’s dietary needs.

Sarah was previously a registered nurse before making a career change to bookkeeping.
